iUniverse Presents: 'Going Godless: Rediscovering Spirituality in a Material World'

EVANS, Ga., April 28, 2010 — Bookshelves are filled with books on being true, good, right and spiritual through following God and deepening one's faith through religion. But what about the non-believers? Is there a manual that guides the "spiritual" needs of the non-religious? How do atheists and agnostics find greater meaning, peace, solace in their lives?

J.K. Fausnight's new book "Going Godless: Rediscovering Spirituality in a Material World" (published by iUniverse) shows that yes, indeed, the growing number of godless or faithless today are seeking meaning, direction, and satisfaction in their lives, as they come to terms with a mortal life within the bounds of their beliefs. Through meditation, seeking balance and harmony with self and others, personal honesty and integrity, the godless can discover their own way to a more fulfilling life.

Fausnight's own experience reveals the stigma and animosity toward unbelievers, noting that many avoid the label so that others will not assume they are immoral because they don't believe in God. "Going Godless" explores non-theistic spirituality in three parts: What it means to be atheist or agnostic and what spirituality and religion mean and do for people; the wisdom of traditional religions: Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Hinduism, Buddhism, Confucianism and Taoism and all that can be learned from them; and "Living Godlessly": finding meaning and purpose in a material world. Fausnight examines prayer, morality, humanism, secularism, all intended to help outline principles of living in balance and spiritual harmony – no matter what your beliefs.
