Jobs, Energy and Environment: Adventurer, Problem-Solver Steven Green Urges U.S. Government to Rethink Geothermal Energy Plan to Create Jobs

CANTON, Ohio, Oct. 25, 2011 — With talk about the jobs program and getting Americans back to work, Steven Green announces an energy plan that does just that, and provides a form of cleaner, cheaper electricity.

The plan envelops the thoughts of Theodore Roosevelt in his speech "The New Nationalism" August 31, 1910, 100 years ago: "The object of government is the welfare of the people. Conservation means development as much as it does protection. I recognize the right and duty of this generation to develop and use the natural resources of our land; but I do not recognize the right to waste them, or to rob, by wasteful use, the generations that come after us." Would Roosevelt not recognize the need to develop this resource to save the country?

"We have the most active region of geothermal activity on earth in Yellowstone," Green said. One area, as small as one acre, can provide electricity for 20,000 homes. Yellowstone is 1,580 square miles.

"The potential is astounding in that a recreation of the antiquated power grid could be completed inside of 10 years," said Green.

What does this mean to Americans?

  1. Millions of sustainable, permanent jobs.
  2. Public schools and local government entities receive free energy through the geothermal energy grid, helping to alleviate tax burdens on local communities.
  3. It would take away the dependency on foreign oil while creating real green energy jobs.
  4. Crumbling infrastructure would be replaced.
  5. A new power grid would transport power to homes and businesses and would include electric automobiles and trains leading to a possible staggering growth in the automobile and steel industries.
  6. The energy could initially benefit the U.S. and then be sold to Canada, Mexico, South America and at some point, Russia.
  7. Would make the process of making energy safer, without relying on the 104 nuclear reactors located in the country.

With enough geothermal activity to produce electricity for the entire planet, Green stated that the potential is astounding. This is a program that can surpass all the programs that are being discussed in government today: a cure-all, and an all-in-one save-the-country kind of program.

"Properly executed, this plan would completely reverse the economic downturn with the creation of jobs, use of endless cheap energy and many new opportunities," Green explains. "The money made from selling this geothermal power will save our education system and help rebuild our entitlement programs, Medicare and Social Security."

This is just a part of the story as phase II offers more to come, including the addition of high-speed trains that can "cleanly" carry travelers at high speeds, leaving New York after breakfast and enjoying dinner in San Francisco.

Green continues to research and develop his plan with a top Icelandic geothermal physicist.
