Lakeshore Learning Stores Partner with Jumpstart to Help Break a World Reading Record

Jumpstart's Read for the Record® with nationwide event on September 29th

CARSON, Calif., Sept. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Lakeshore Learning Materials today announced that all 56 of its store locations will host events in celebration of Jumpstart's Read for the Record, presented in partnership with the Pearson Foundation. Jumpstart's Read for the Record is an annual event that brings together millions of individuals to celebrate literacy by breaking the world record for the largest shared reading experience.

From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. on September 29th, parents and children are invited to come to Lakeshore Learning Stores nationwide to enjoy hourly readings of Ladybug Girl and the Bug Squad—the official book of Jumpstart's Read for the Record 2012 campaign—and participate in free crafts and activities.

"We're so thrilled to collaborate with Lakeshore for this year's Read for the Record," said Naila Bolus, President and CEO of Jumpstart. "Their involvement will help us raise awareness of the importance of early education and give more children the unique opportunity to help break a world reading record."

Lakeshore is an active supporter of outreach projects that promote early childhood education, and Jumpstart's Read for the Record has provided a new opportunity for the company to support the communities it serves.

"It is an honor to take part in such a powerful and fundamental initiative," said Bo Kaplan, President and CEO of Lakeshore. "We can't think of a better way to shine a light on the need for high-quality early education—and the lasting benefits of early literacy."

Since the campaign's inception in 2006, more than seven million people have joined Jumpstart's Read for the Record events.
