Lalabu Helps Mothers Nurse and Carry Their Child with a Simple, Stylish Baby Carrier Shirt

"One Day One Dollar" business model helps give back to women in Africa, who helped inspire Lalabu

ATLANTA, May 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Instead of wearing a baby carrier on top of your clothing, Lalabu's new carrier is clothing.  The company hopes to help women through a business model coined "One Day One Dollar." The business is named to honor the woman who taught them how to carry babies on a trip to Burkina Faso, Africa.

Atlanta-based Lalabu has released a baby carrier for newborns and nursing moms made to be worn all day like a shirt. When there is no child in the pouch it looks just like a normal top. A built-in nursing bra supports breastfeeding and the pouch design emulates a swaddle, which helps calm babies.

Lalabu is named to honor the woman who taught Co-Founder Brian Fosse and his wife Keri how to carry babies on a trip to Burkina Faso, Africa. Lalabu had newborn twins and taught Keri how to tie a child on her back. Once back home Keri would ask, "Why are the baby carriers in the States huge and complicated to use?" The couple teamed up with product designer Garrett Simmer to create the African inspired carrier.

Lalabu's "One Day One Dollar" model aims to support women in the community. "We give our time locally by partnering one day a week to help women in Atlanta. We also give one dollar of every sale back to women in Africa where one dollar makes a big difference," says Lalabu Co-Founder Brian Fosse. "Because of our focus on making great baby products and helping women transition into new and better lives, we like to say 'we work for new lives.'"

The company produced a one-minute video entitled "A Day With Lalabu" which follows a new mom through a typical day showcasing the new carrier. Link to the video: http://player.vimeo.com/video/65385699.
