The Manufacturing Connector(SM) Lisa Anderson Will Speak on Cultivating and Empowering Employees at APICS 2014 in New Orleans, Oct. 19

CLAREMONT, Calif., Sept. 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Lisa Anderson, president of LMA Consulting GroupSM and a supply chain management expert, will share with APICS 2014 attendees how to profit through people by revealing her latest Skills Gaps research and proven strategies to retain and motivate employees in her "Cultivating and Empowering Employees" presentation Sunday, Oct. 19, at 2:30 p.m. in New Orleans.  Anderson's Skills Gap research, conducted earlier this year, indicated a widening gap of employer's expectations and the skillsets of current employees and new hires, which hinders growth and causes teamwork problems for manufacturers and distributors.

"The Skills Gap research really underscored the importance of empowering and engaging employees as a core strategy to attract, retain and develop people in order to successfully navigate business' ever-increasing requirements and complexity," explains Anderson. "We're facing a perfect storm of a better job market, a recent lack of focus on upgrading skills due to slashed training and development budgets during the recession, suddenly elevated customer expectations, and the lack of skilled resources. Long-term employees are retiring and seeking better opportunities elsewhere and there is no bench strength to weather the talent exodus."

APICS 2014 is the leading annual gathering of supply chain and operations management professionals worldwide with an expected attendance of over 2,000 from over 40 countries.  At this year's conference, focus will be made on learning the latest technologies, discovering new solutions to immediate and long-range business needs, uncovering emerging trends, and developing valuable resources and partnerships.  The conference will be held at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, New Orleans, Oct. 19 – Oct. 21, 2014.
