NOVATO, Calif. – March 27, 2001 — Matrix Logic Corporation, a world leader in the production of document management system utilities, and Hummingbird Ltd. Through Matrix Logic's Wireless DMS Suite (WirelessDMS) users can access documents stored in a Hummingbird Document Management solution from anywhere via mobile phones, personal digital assistants (PDAs) and handheld computers.
WirelessDMS enhances Matrix Logic's WAPDocs, a document management connector for digital mobile phones introduced in August 2000, and provides support for the full range of Hummingbird's Document Management products which include DOCSOpen(tm), PowerDOCS(tm), DOCSFusion(tm) and CyberDOCS(tm).

According to a recent Gartner Dataquest report (Tuning in to the Wireless World, March 9, 2001) it is estimated that more than 60 million people worldwide own data-enabled devices, and this number will grow to exceed 1 billion by 2004. The report also states that, "Wireless access to business applications will start to become an integral part of the enabling infrastructure of the enterprise."
WirelessDMS enables wireless users to access their document repositories and convert documents into readable text in real time on supported phones, pagers, palm devices and Pocket PCs. For the mobile worker with a Pocket PC or Windows CE handheld, full document synchronization is available when the device is docked.
Users may also search their document libraries, and then e-mail or fax documents directly from their hand-held devices. Instant notification of changes to projects, quick searches and documents within the DMS is available via e-mail or directly on end-user's handheld devices.
Document viewing is available on appropriate handheld devices rendering documents on the fly to text for viewing on the small screen. WirelessDMS also allows users to view rendered e-mail attachments and document references previously unreadable on wireless devices. "For example, if someone e-mails a Word document or a DMS document reference to your RIM BlackBerry," explained Page, "you can request the server send you the contents of the document as readable text."
