SAN FRANCISCO, May 9, 2011 — Chester Santos, the 2008 USA National Memory Champion, has memorized all Kentucky Derby results since its inception in 1875, including the winning horses and jockeys and their winning times to the hundredths of a second (e.g. 2:37.75).
Given any year between 1875 and 2011, Mr. Santos will instantly name the winning horse, the winning jockey, and the winning time.
No other person in United States history has ever demonstrated such a comprehensive recall of Kentucky Derby history. Others have attempted to name only the winning horses and jockeys, in order, but amazingly, Santos can recall them all along with the times, forwards, backwards, and by year.
"This extraordinary performance demonstrates what the human mind is capable of with proper training," says Santos. He would like to put this feat of memory on display throughout the United States in order to help promote memory improvement and mental fitness.
