Memory Training Centers of America Presents on Panel for The American Society on Aging Conference 2011

SAN FRANCISCO, April 13, 2011 — The American Society on Aging Conference, to be held in San Francisco, CA, April 26th through April 28th, 2011, is offering a panel discussion on the Benefits of Electronic-Health Technology on the care of the healthy aging population in the U.S.

Dr. Bruce Brotter, Ph.D., Director of Training and Clinical Operations for Memory Training Centers of America (MTCA), reports that he is "very pleased to have the opportunity to share with gerontologists and mental health professionals that 'all memory loss is not alike.' What differentiates MTCA from today's many 'brain fitness' products and companies is the fact that we begin every consultation with a cognitive testing battery administered by a clinical psychologist or neuropsychologist to determine whether we are dealing with age-related memory changes or something more clinically significant. We then develop an individually tailored treatment program to target the particular deficits and daily life challenges that are reported and observed." MTCA has worked with Medicare to enable reimbursement of professional memory training services for Seniors who experience something more than what may be described as "age-related memory changes."

Furthermore, MTCA has developed an Internet-accessible program on the Scientific Brain Training platform, which is the first of its kind developed specifically for use by professionals to treat memory impairment. While many brain fitness companies offer a "one-size-fits-all" software program, MTCA has been providing Independent Living, Assisted Living and Out-Patient Senior Centers with a state-of-the-art program administered by professionals to treat memory impairment. "Our services have been provided at luxury A.L. and I.L. communities in the Northeast since 2001 and are now available in Florida, Louisiana, Wisconsin and California, with Centers currently in development in other States across the U.S. The opportunity to speak about our program at the ASA conference is very exciting, as we will be presenting with others who offer a range of services to a community-based Senior population while we offer the only clinical program administered by professionals. The distinction is most important, as is the value of each program presented at the Conference," said Brotter.
