In recognizing the most innovative products, the annual Top 100 Award  informs superintendents and other senior school district leaders about products their colleagues around the country are using to help their districts excel.

"The fact that we had a record number of readers participating in this recognition program is a testament to the interest that K12 leaders have in products for improving educational outcomes and operational efficiencies," says JD Solomon, District Administration's editorial director.  "All of the honorees in our Top 100 program should be very proud of their achievement."

Schools across the country are fighting to control the spread of illness. So it's no surprise that administrators and environmental services managers are taking steps to improve the cleanliness of their schools by adopting self-cleaning NanoSeptic surfaces in and out of the classroom. The NanoSeptic surface continuously kills bacteria, viruses and fungi using nanotechnology instead of diluted poisons or heavy metals.

"When you find a product that not only creates a cleaner school in the hopes of reducing student and teacher absenteeism, but also improves our image in the eyes of the parents, that's something special," says John Patterson, superintendent at LCA. "Using nanotechnology powered self-cleaning surfaces in our school creates a cleaner environment and communicates our commitment to the wellbeing of students, teachers and visitors at every touch point."

The product line includes peel-and-stick skins and wraps for touch points like door push pads, push bars, and handles. It also includes portable products like counter mats, snack mats, desk mats and mouse pads. Early adopters are anxiously awaiting the newest product in the line, a disposable NanoSeptic iPad sleeve. These sleeves provide a self-cleaning wrap, and some additional environmental protection, for iPads that are shared in the classroom.

And in today's world of shrinking school budgets, NanoSeptic products provide an affordable option for increased hygiene. With touch points costing less than $4 each, schools can have a cleaner environment without significantly increasing spending. Some schools are even selling snack mats and travel mats as a unique fund raising product, timed perfectly for the holidays as well as the cold and flu season.

"Schools will continue to use one-time kill products like disinfectants, but NanoTouch enhances their cleaning efforts by working to eliminate even hard-to-kill microbes such as MRSA and C. Diff, 24 hours a day, seven days a week." says Mark Sisson, co-founder of NanoTouch. "Another school system that uses NanoSeptic products recently removed alcohol based hand sanitizers because students were lighting it on fire. NanoTouch helped to fill that void."

"What's great is that the NanoSeptic surface is always on. This is particularly important when dealing with sensitive populations, such as children," says NanoTouch co-founder, Dennis Hackemeyer.
