As a charity partner with National Veterans Day Run, each of the 40 cities participating nationwide in the running event on November 10 or 11, 2013 will raise funds to support military families in their local communities. Each city has a goal of at least $5,000, which will fund one Folds of Honor scholarship. To get more details on the scholarship process you can visit https://scholarships.foldsofhonor.org.

"The 2013 National Veterans Day Run serves as not only a celebratory running event that showcases our respect for service men and women, but will also directly impact the community and military families through our partnership with Folds of Honor," states Keri Mullins, national director of operations, National Veterans Day Run series. "We are targeting a goal of $200,000 to support scholarships for more than 40 families through Folds of Honor, positively impacting military families for years to come."

"National Veterans Day Runs are a great way to honor our service men and women, and we're honored to be the chosen benefactor," said Major Dan Rooney, Folds of Honor founder. "These events offer Americans an opportunity on Veterans Day, a day designed for reflection on and gratitude toward these men and women, to pay tribute to our military and ensure their families' educational dreams are realized."

Since its inception in 2007, Folds of Honor has raised more than $25 million and has awarded more than 5,000 educational scholarships to the families of fallen or wounded soldiers. There are more than one million dependents of fallen and wounded military service men and women from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts alone and 87 percent do not qualify for federal scholarship assistance (as of January 2012). The Folds of Honor wants to help ensure that no family is left behind in the field of battle, making sure that we honor their sacrifice and educate their legacy.

The National Veterans Day Run registration is now open for the 2013 event including a 1 mile family walk, a 5K and 11K. To find and register for a run near you, visit www.veteransdayrun.org.
