Neeld Wilson Receives Veterans of Influence Award

ORLANDO, Fla., Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Neeld Wilson was among 25 military veterans who made a significant achievement in their careers in the last year.  He has a strong record of innovation and outstanding performance in work and is active in his community. Neeld served in the United States Navy for ten years with three Mediterranean deployments (Med cruises).  At sea, he worked on the flight deck of aircraft carriers as a trouble shooter/final checker for the S-3A Viking anti-submarine aircraft.  Neeld quickly achieved the rank of E-6 in less than 6 years and while on-shore he was the Squadron's Airframes Shop supervisor, Command Training Team Trainer, Safety Petty Officer, Collateral Duty Inspector, Non-Destructive Inspector, Drug & Alcohol Abuse Counselor, and Flight Mechanic.

Neeld received the Navy Achievement ribbon, Navy Commendation medal, Good Conduct Award, Sailor of the Month Awards, Sailor or the Quarter Awards, twice nominated for Sailor of the Year, and an Honorable Discharge. While on active duty reserves from 1983-1986, Mr. Wilson obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Geology from the University of Florida. While at the University of Florida, Mr. Wilson built a Paleo-Magnetic laboratory for the Geology Department; it was only the fifth such laboratory to be built in the world. The lab has received students and professors from all over the world to test remnant magnetism in cored rock samples.

Today, he is the founder, president and 100% owner of Gator Engineering & Aquifer Restoration, Inc. (GEAR), a VA verified Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business (SDVOSB) providing engineering services.  GEAR was recently awarded a 5-year, 7 million dollar IDIQ Environmental Services contract with the Department of Veteran Affairs that includes all of the Eastern U.S. from Maine to the U.S. Virgin Islands. Other contracts include Water Distribution Studies, Legionella Feasibility Studies, Boiler Studies, Stormwater Design, and A-E Design Build projects.  GEAR has expertise in areas of water systems engineering, environmental engineering, and civil engineering working throughout the Southeast United States.
