Neighborhood Parents Network Invites Chicago Parents to School Fairs

Scheduled for Sept. 20 and Oct. 18, these fairs are designed to help parents navigate the school search and selection process

CHICAGO, Sept. 18, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Neighborhood Parents Network (NPN) will host two school fairs this fall:

  • South Side Preschool and Elementary School Fair on Saturday, Sept. 20 at Hyde Park Neighborhood Club, 5480 S. Kenwood Ave.
  • NPN Annual Preschool and Elementary School Fair on Saturday, Oct. 18 at Grossinger City Autoplex, 1530 N. Dayton St.

Serving as a resource for Chicagoland parents, the NPN school fairs bring together more than 150 public and private schools, enrichment programs and education-related services from across the city.

The September fair will include 60 exhibitors and over 350 expected attendees, while the October fair will welcome 150 exhibitors and over 1,000 attendees. Both fairs have sold out in the past, so NPN encourages early registration at npnparents.org/school-fairs.

"The school search process can be a confusing and overwhelming experience," said Melanie Schlachter, Executive Director of NPN. "Our school fairs help alleviate that stress by giving parents an opportunity to ask questions, gather information and connect with representatives from schools across the city, all in one location."

"We're happy to provide this important resource to Chicago parents as they navigate the important task of choosing a school for their children," said Christa Reed, Associate Executive Director of NPN.

The 2014 presenting sponsor is Bright Start College Savings, which will run a breakout workshop at each fair where attendees can learn about how to start saving now for future education costs. The workshop is a new component to this year's fairs and space is limited.

In addition to the annual school fairs, NPN also offers the city's largest online school directory on their website and holds monthly events related to school search and selection.
