Polymer clay has become popular because it is inexpensive and readily available in craft stores such as Michaels and Jo-Ann. However, polymer clay must be kneaded or "conditioned" before use, and kneading has been a tremendous problem for most clayers due to the hardness of the clay. Kneading polymer clay can cause intense physical pain, especially for those with tendonitis, carpel tunnel syndrome, and arthritis.
The NEVERknead is a new patent-pending invention that solves this problem.
The NEVERknead was invented by a woman, Debra Ann Jaffe, in Los Angeles, California, after months of experimentation. A polymer clay artist herself who creates hand-made polymer clay hanging mobiles inspired by Alexander Calder, she developed a painful condition in her neck and shoulders caused by – and made worse by – polymer clay kneading. Debra said, "I searched for solutions to kneading polymer clay for years, I looked for something – anything – that would knead clay, and found nothing. I was faced with the real possibility of having to stop doing my polymer clay art work."
Over a period of several months, Debra made prototypes, experimented, and perfected her design.
