Medical weight loss leader JumpstartMD uses Google-sponsored technologies to enhance patient access online

JumpstartMD is the second healthcare provider to adopt the Ondello platform for Telehealth consultations in recent weeks. These providers are helping to redefine the logistics and convenience of a new kind of healthcare, ultimately adding convenience, reducing costs and caring for more patients with the same level of staffing.

JumpstartMD is growing rapidly with nine physical locations in the San Francisco Bay area. The company plans to continue opening additional physical locations as part of its national expansion. However, virtual Telehealth consultations are seen as important strategically due to the cost-effective reach and added convenience to patients who travel extensively or live in remote areas. The new capabilities of the Ondello platform give patients the option of either an in-person visit, or a Telehealth consultation from their home or office. JumpstartMD healthcare staff will connect with patients using live video and audio over a standard laptop and web browser.
JumpstartMD selected Ondello after conducting an extensive investigation into the emerging Internet open standard (WebRTC) now available in web browsers. WebRTC is an open sourced project sponsored by Google and Mozilla among others. It provides high definition audio and video in a standard web browser with no software download or application install. This new standard – now supported by 1 billion end points – is seen as a key driver in the rapidly growing 'care at home' segment of Telemedicine. The care at home segment is projected to grow at 22% CAGR over the coming years. In the past, specialized, expensive equipment has constrained healthcare providers to conduct Telemedicine in clinic facilities only.
