COLUMBUS, Ohio, April 25, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ — The Central and Southern Ohio chapter of the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (CSOHIMSS) in partnership with the Northern Ohio HIMSS chapter (NOHIMSS) announces its 9th annual Ohio Healthcare Information Technology Day (OHIT Day) at the Ohio Statehouse.  The event will occur on Wednesday, April 27, 2016 and Governor John Kasich has proclaimed it to be Ohio Healthcare Information Technology Day throughout the State of Ohio.

OHIT Day is a collaborative effort between the Central & Southern Ohio Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (CSOHIMSS), the Northern Ohio Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (NOHIMSS), the Ohio Health Information Management Association (OHIMA), HIMSS Innovation Center, eHealth Ohio, the College of Healthcare Information Management Executives (CHIME) and other organizations to bring the issue of healthcare information technology (HIT) to the forefront of the political discussion. OHIT Day is held at the Ohio Statehouse Atrium & Legislative Offices in Columbus to directly engage state officials and address HIT for the benefit all Ohioans.

In addition to the opportunity to visit with State legislators, a full educational program will occur throughout the day. Attendees and speakers from the Cleveland area will participate via live video conference between the Statehouse Atrium and the HIMSS Innovation Center in downtown Cleveland.

Highlights of the day will include addresses by the Honorable Representative Robert Sprague R-83, Cleveland Clinic Chief Information Officer C. Martin Harris, MD, Steven W. Schierholt, Executive Director of the Ohio State Board of Pharmacy, Krishnan Sastry, Executive Vice President, Appriss, Inc., Dan Paoletti, CEO, Ohio Health Information Partnership and Jason Buckner, VP of Operations, HealthBridge.  Also a panel of HIT leaders will discuss OARRS and the PMP Gateway.
