Passage to Indonesia Cooking Sauce – Authentic Indonesian Cooking at Home

COLLINSVILLE, Conn., Nov. 12, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Passage Foods introduces its latest cooking sauce, Passage to Indonesia Satay Chicken Stir-Fry Sauce, now available across North America. Indonesian cuisine is rich in the flavors of coriander, cardamom, cumin, cloves and nutmeg and has been influenced by the cooking methods of India, the Middle East, China and old-world Europe. Considered one of Indonesia's national dishes, Satay is a blend of peanut, chili, and other Asian flavors that has its origin from the island of Java, Indonesia.

The Asian foods category is growing at 6% per year and has outpaced all other ethnic food sales over the last four years.  Asian foods are expected to continue this strong growth, reaching $1.1 billion in sales by 2016 across FDMx.  Today, the North American market for Asian foods is primarily the cuisines of India, Thailand and China, however, as the category grows, consumers are expressing an interest in more regionalized Asian cuisines.  This can be seen in the rise of Malaysian, Vietnamese and Nepalese restaurants across the USA. "Consumers love exploring the world right at their own dinner table. According to a recent Mintel consumer survey, home ethnic food preparation is on the rise with 87 percent of respondents indicating they are cooking different ethnic foods at home more often," stated Passage Foods' Luke Thomson. "With the growth of the Asian ethnic category in specialty foods, we foresee greater segmentation in flavor profiles as consumers seek more diversified eating experiences."

Passage to Indonesia Satay Chicken is Passage Foods' 19th product in the company's authentic cooking sauce range and the 6th new product launch for 2013.
