What People Need to Develop to Survive and Succeed in the 21st Century?

Author's revised edition of his first book on leadership skills and development to be featured at this year's Book Expo America in New York City on May 30–June 1

CASA GRANDE, Ariz., April 10, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Any person with integrity will not violate the dignity of another person. This requires development intellectually, ethically, physically, emotionally and spiritually.  Today's news on social violence – killings with weapons – is a symptom of the failure of parenting and education. These individuals are acting out in ways they feel they have been treated. That's why educator-author Dr. Alvin Holst revisits the importance of Integrity, Courage & Soul: Leadership Traits for the 21st Century to underline what society importantly needs at present. In this book, the author hopes to offer a solution for ending or reducing the high cost of incarceration by increasing financial support to public education.

Positive human growth and development result from learning to be truthful, positive, encouraging, and command of knowledge. Children, youth and adults learn what they experience. All people have dignity at birth, unless others destroy it in attempts to control them. People whose dignity is honored learn to honor dignity in others and thus become leaders. The basic principle is: People respond positively when related to positively and negatively when treated negatively.

This book is an accounting of the things that work in one's life and promote improved growth as well in others. It is a reflection of the author's life experiences: firstly, being directed and taught; secondly, trying it out in the real world; thirdly, checking it out in the literature from the sciences; and most importantly, actually taking it into the world of human relationships.

This book is available online and can be purchased at www.amazon.com and www.barnesandnoble.com.

About the Author
Alvin Holst, Ph.D., began life in the agricultural world, attending a one-room country school and a small rural high school. His college was at a small Teacher's College before teaching in a much larger urban industrial world Junior High School. His Master's and Doctorate degrees revealed still more lack of information in the formal setting. There was little effort being made to move education of youth into the developing informative/service age. This void in his formal education was eventually supported by extensive reading and sharing through conferences, which provides the bulk of the substance contained in this book.
