Philadelphia Bank Changes Core Technology to Remain Relevant, Yet Personal

Bank selects DCI and iCore360® to bolster personal service reputation

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 14, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — For over 140 years, Tioga-Franklin Savings Bank has cultivated a niche providing personal savings and mortgage services in the historic Fishtown neighborhood of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. But despite a reputation for stability and personal service that would make George Bailey jealous, Tioga-Franklin realized they needed a little more than that to compete in today's rapidly changing banking environment.

Bob Lockyer, Tioga-Franklin's president, said, "We are proud of our heritage, but we want Tioga-Franklin to be relevant for another 140 years. That means we need technology that helps us easily respond to regulatory and customer demands without changing who we are."

Struggling with antiquated, manual processes, limited support and the inability to offer new products to their customers, Tioga-Franklin underwent a year-long search and partnered with Data Center Inc (DCI), the Hutchinson, Kansas-based developer of the award-winning iCore360® core banking software.

With DCI and iCore360®, Tioga-Franklin expects vast improvements in organizational efficiencies through workflow automation and regulatory simplification that help focus more staff and resources on new services and customer relationships.

Lindsay Butler, Tioga-Franklin's operations officer, said, "The iCore360® demo showed us how much we'd been missing out on, how much more efficient we could be, and how much deeper we could expand our customer relationships. We're already planning new product lines, and even things like HELOCs, account origination and online banking will be easier for us to manage."

But the bank is quick to point out that, as impressed as they were with iCore360®, it was the people at DCI – the staff, executives, owners and customers – that tipped the scales, because, as Lockyer puts it, "They match our values. They all genuinely care and understand us on a professional and personal level. DCI is a company we can relate to and trust."

John H. Jones, DCI president and CEO, adds, "We're very pleased to see more Northeastern banks like Tioga-Franklin discovering the unique DCI difference trusted by so many other banks across the country. They are terrific people and a welcome addition to the DCI family."
