The Real Estate Agent Directory's growing following is indicative of the real estate industry's migration to social media. According to the National Association of REALTORS, 89% of REALTORS already use social media. Agents are taking notice of how social media allows small businesses to reach and build relationships with their consumers on a level not achievable through traditional marketing methods such as websites and blogs. Social media has proven to provide greater access to larger networks of homebuyers and sellers, and at more cost-effective means. Further, it has been suggested by social performance management platform Syncapse that each "fan" on a company Facebook Page is worth $174 to the business.

"In terms of an online presence, Facebook gives agents a way to attach a personal element to their brand," says N-Play CEO, Mark Bloomfield. "This helps build their credibility with potential clients and leads to more business. This move to social media is not a trend for agents. It's the future of the industry."

N-Play estimates there are one million agents operating in the U.S. who have an active Facebook account. There are also 84 million American consumers between the ages of 30-65 who have accounts.  According to a study by Experian Marketing Services, American consumers spend over six hours on social media daily, with Facebook garnering the largest share of activity. With Facebook's recent purchase of WhatsApp, the company has further solidified itself as the dominant social media platform for users and brands.
