DALLAS, Texas, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — The Dallas Mavericks (Mavs) and Replay Technologies (Replay) today announced that they have teamed up to provide fans the Emmy® award-winning freeD™ technology in the American Airlines Center, in Dallas, Texas.

Replay will work with the Mavs to distribute 360-degree video footage of key plays from all live game action within the arena.  This is the first National Basketball Association (NBA) team to install the freeD™ ARENA System and integrate the technology into their broadcast of the game. The replays will be presented in 5K video resolution, the highest quality viewing experience for fans.

This is the largest freeD™ system ever installed across all international sports properties – consisting of 26 cameras, six of which allow for enhanced zoom capability. The system can navigate the entire court through 360-degree coverage and view any perspective of the action. This is a huge leap in terms of production capabilities, which "frees" the video, allowing viewers to watch any play from any angle.

"We're excited to offer this technology to Mavs fans as well as our players, as we work with Replay to showcase never before seen footage of our games," says Mavericks owner, Mark Cuban. "By seeing the game from a unique position, our coaches and team will have a greater advantage by being proactive in their approach and strategy."

Throughout the remainder of the NBA season, Replay will work with the Dallas Mavericks to develop a 3D teaching application that will allow coaches to see the court from above, all sides and even in-between players to analyze plays like never before.

"This technology will help the Dallas Mavericks continue their successful winning ways, by furthering the way we see the game," explains Replay CEO, Oren Yogev. "Through the sophisticated algorithms, we are excited to showcase the action in an innovative perspective."

The technology is currently being tested within the arena and will be available for broadcast use within the next month. See sample video here: http://youtu.be/l_TxrOxCPSg

About Replay Technologies
Our vision is to power the next big revolution in video by using our proprietary freeD™ technology to create novel viewing experiences. Ultimately, we believe the viewing experience of most broadcast related events, from sports to news to film, will be 'freed' from the limitation of what had been shot by physical cameras, raising both the storytelling possibilities and the user immersion possibilities to whole new levels.

We aim to disrupt the fundamental operating cost structure for broadcasting, cinema and other fields (biomedical, security, etc.) by the implementation of new viewing angles and un-manned cameras where none existed in reality.
