TEL AVIV, Israel, Aug. 1, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — On July 22, 2014 the Rwandan Foreign Minister visited the Rwandan students at Agrostudies. Her visit to Israel, while planned in advanced, coincided with the recent escalation between Israel and the Palestinians. Even so, the Minister decided to arrive on schedule as a show of support to the Israeli people:
"I am here on behalf of the government of Rwandan to show solidarity to the people of Israel. This is a difficult time of Israel and the region but it's also a time where we think we cannot just show support but as president of the UN Security Council this month, we will get deeply involved in discussions concerning the ongoing crisis ".
There are currently 129 Rwandan students completing the Agrostudies agriculture internship, who come from three different agricultural universities in Rwanda. This is the second year the country has participated in this project with great success, and more are expected next year.
At Agrostudies the students study advanced agricultural techniques and technologies, combining hands on experience with theoretical studies. This allows them to gain valuable experience in large scale modern farming which they can take back and implement at home.
The Minister talked about the internship and its value to the Rwandan students and to the country as it focuses on developing advanced and sustainable agriculture. She also mentioned how proud the government is to hear the positive reports on their progress and achievements and promised that the Minister of Agriculture would be visiting Israel for the students' graduation ceremony, set to take place on September 3rd, in Tel Aviv.
Joining her at the meeting with Agrostudies were several other Rwandan officials and the Israeli Ambassador to Rwanda who accompanied the Minister on her visit.
