Savvier Health, LLC Introduces Innovative Health Empowerment App Designed to Streamline Medical Care and Reduce Healthcare Costs

COLUMBIA, Md., April 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — "Every individual has a colossal interest in the future of health care, whether he knows it or not. Together we'll thrive or together we'll fall," says A. Maria Hester, MD, creator of the Patient Whiz App for iOS. "While ordinary citizens may not have control over life-altering decisions made by politicians and administrators in high places, they do have control over their own actions, or inactions. I believe everyone can play a pivotal role in improving his own health, decreasing health care costs for himself and society as a whole, and creating a sustainable, high-quality health care system that will benefit everyone."

The Patient Whiz App was designed to empower individuals with no medical background to optimize their health while slashing their medical bills, minimizing delays in diagnoses, and decreasing medical errors. It teaches users basic "patient skills" that equip them to streamline their own high-quality medical care while they minimize expensive and potentially dangerous testing.

Features of the Patient Whiz:

-Encrypted security

-Ability to create multiple user profiles to keep the entire family's vital health records in one place

-Audible alarms to remind users to refill medications and keep doctors' appointments

-Ability to quickly scan EKGs, lab results, and other vital information directly into the app at point of service, such as during a doctor's visit (iPhone)

-Physician can record his instructions directly into the app so users can hear them again and again and even email themselves a copy of the voice file for their records in a matter of seconds. In addition, users can record visit details, questions for the doctor, etc.

-Forty-five different health charts ranging from current illnesses to prior occupational exposures that may put one at risk of future disease. Each chart can be edited, e-mailed, and printed.

– Users learn how to prepare for visits to the doctor in advance in order to get the most out of each and every minute of every visit. They can even access detailed questions that physicians typically ask about common symptoms so they will be empowered to give a concise, detailed description of their symptoms, which will help physicians order targeted tests and make the right diagnosis quicker.

-Appointment checklist that summarizes each visit

-Acute care visit navigator which preps users on how to communicate with physicians and expedite their own diagnoses

-Preventive medicine checklists and adult vaccine schedule

-Ability to create and print healthy grocery lists

-Nutrition and exercise logs

-Ability to use the functionalities for non-medical issues, such as scanning and emailing personal documents  or setting an alarm to remember to perform a task

One does not need a medical background to optimize his care and lower his medical bills. He only needs the desire to be an effective partner in his health care and the tools to help him reach this worthwhile goal.
