SCM Real Estate Services Merges with Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance

DFW firm is fifth to join national commercial real estate alliance

ARLINGTON, Texas, Jan. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Leveraging its expertise and reputation in North Texas, SCM Real Estate Services has merged with New York-based Coldwell Banker Commercial® Alliance, a rapidly expanding real estate brokerage firm focused on private investors and small to mid-cap businesses.

SCM's new name is Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW. The headquarters will remain in Arlington, and during 2014, the company expects to open offices in Dallas and Fort Worth.

"The benefits that our clients and our team gain by joining with Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance are definitely worth rebranding our 21-year-old company. Our name and available resources are expanding while our mission of making places better will remain the same," says Gary Walker, founder and president. Gary will serve as managing principal of Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW.

Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance DFW employs 30 commercial real estate professionals and support staff. Theron Bryant, a top producer and principal of SCM, will lead the Fort Worth office as a market director and is actively seeking office space. Carol Sosebee, also a principal of SCM and board member of CREW Dallas, remains chief operating officer and director of property management.

Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance was launched in 2012 by New York-based Waterfall Asset Management, and has since opened offices in Denver, Orange County, Los Angeles, and now Dallas/Fort Worth. The Alliance is affiliated with Coldwell Banker Commercial.

"Gary and his team have been incredibly successful in serving small and mid-cap businesses in the Mid-Cities as well as private investors throughout the Metroplex," said Obie Walli, chief executive officer for Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance. "This is a terrific opportunity for both organizations and underscores both the strength of the Coldwell Banker Commercial Alliance platform as well as our commitment to attracting top organizations in the industry to our company."

The bottom line is SCM, a full-service regional company, is gaining national and international exposure for its clients and listings, revolutionary lead management, expert financial analytics, the industry's latest technology and more, including ongoing support for local and national marketing.

"It was good timing for us to grow our business. We had considered a number of expansion opportunities," Walker says. "The CBC Alliance organization allows us to keep our own culture and independence while taking our company to the next level."

Walker has nearly 30 years of commercial real estate experience, establishing SCM in 1992 as a full-service shop. To date, the firm's veteran agents have closed more than $100 million of acquisitions and dispositions and leased in excess of 9.8 million square feet for clients. They manage $50 million of commercial space, totaling 1.9 million square feet, and oversee sales and lease listings for an additional 2.5 million square feet of office, industrial and retail space.

Walker also is the managing partner of SkyWalker Property Partners and managing member of the $100 million Hangover Opportunity Fund LLC, an investment vehicle with commercial real estate holdings in Texas and surrounding states. He holds a B.B.A. in finance from Baylor University and recently completed the Harvard Business School's Real Estate Management program. He is active in numerous commercial real estate and non-profit organizations, including Big Brothers/Big Sisters of America, which has had a strategic partnership with CBC since 2007.
