Attorney, entrepreneur and consultant Moe Vela will head Scarinci Hollenbeck's office in its new D.C. location.

LYNDHURST, N.J., May 15, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Scarinci Hollenbeck is pleased to announce the expansion of its law firm into Washington, D.C. In addition, Scarinci Hollenbeck is proud to announce that Former Senior White House Advisor Moe Vela has joined the firm and will head the firm's new location at 908-B Pennsylvania Avenue, Washington, D.C. 20003.

"We are pleased that Moe Vela has chosen to join Scarinci Hollenbeck and lead our new Washington, D.C. office," said managing partner Kenneth Hollenbeck. "Mr. Vela previously served in a similar capacity at the global law firm Holland & Knight, expanding his extensive familiarity with business development, government relations, and regulatory and public policy." Hollenbeck continued, "Moe Vela's inclusion to our firm brings significant value to our clients and their initiatives."

In addition to his new role as Director of Scarinci Hollenbeck's Washington, D.C. office, Mr. Vela is the President and CEO of Moe Vela, LLC, a global business development consulting firm with clients in the U.S. and Latin America.

A longtime Washington insider, Mr. Vela's leadership and counsel have been sought by some of the country's top leaders. Before joining Holland & Knight and Scarinci Hollenbeck, Mr. Vela served in President Obama's administration as the Director of Management and Administration in the Office of Vice President Joe Biden. Before serving in the Obama Administration, Mr. Vela acted as Chief Financial Officer and Senior Advisor on Hispanic Affairs for Vice President Al Gore. Mr. Vela holds the distinction of being the first and only Hispanic American to serve twice in a senior executive role for the White House.

Vela's proven legal and business tenacity is also demonstrated through his notable achievements in helping the Hispanic community. He developed El Centro Legal Latino in Birmingham, Alabama, a company designed to educate the local Hispanic community on its legal rights. He later founded and served as the first Chairman of the Alabama Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

In recognition for being one of our nation's foremost leaders at the intersection of law, finance, government, business, politics and finance, Vela has twice been named "Top 101 Hispanics in America" by Latino Leaders magazine and one of the "Top 100 Hispanics in America" by Hispanic Business magazine. Additionally, Mr. Vela has been recognized as one of the top 300 Washington, D.C. insiders by the National Journal.

When asked why he chose to join Scarinci Hollenbeck, Mr. Vela said, "I am elated at the opportunity to use my experience and global network in the areas of business, finance and public policy to represent Scarinci Hollenbeck and its clients in our nation's capital. Their reputation as a first-class law firm fits perfectly with my commitment to service and is an excellent enhancement to my business development consulting firm."

The Washington office, with Vela's guidance, is expected to strengthen the firm's dealings with regulatory and public law issues involving transportation, infrastructure, energy, environmental law, urban redevelopment, healthcare, and finance and international business transactions with particular interests in Brazil and other Latin American countries. Further, the firm's presence in Washington will continue the effort of its newly formed Cyber Security & Data Protection Group, Chaired by Fernando M. Pinguelo, to engage in legislative dialogue on related policy.
