Popular, handheld LCR-meter Smart Tweezers and successor LCR-Reader available at discount price for one day only, Black Friday, November 29, 2013

WATERLOO, Ontario, Nov. 29, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — World-renowned handheld LCR-meters, Smart Tweezers, have gained worldwide recognition since its introduction in the early 2000s. The device is constantly evolving, offering users more features, higher accuracy and greater range of applications. A brief history of the device is available at the Smart Tweezers History.

The Smart Tweezers Black Friday Sale begins at 12 am Eastern Time on November 29th, 2013, and ends at 11:59 ET. Orders can be placed through any link here, or by phone or fax.

The latest models have achieved a basic accuracy of 0.2%, quickly placing it as a leader among LCR-measurement tools for Surface Mount Technology (SMT). Surface Mount Technology has become the leading method for manufacturing electronics, replacing older through-hole technology. The small components used are referred to as Surface Mount Devices (SMDs). SMDs are very small and because of the size, most are not labelled, thus making losing track of components or their values an issue.

Smart Tweezers are a simple solution to identifying the components. Easily held and operated with just one hand, Smart Tweezers automatically determine the type of component as an Inductor, Resistor or Capacitor with just a touch, as well as selecting the proper range and signal frequency for the highest measurement accuracy. The measurement results, type of component and test conditions used are then shown on the display.

"The main advantage of Smart Tweezers is virtually instantaneous and highly accurate evaluation of SMT components as small as 0.3mm," says the director of R&D at Siborg, Michael Obrecht, "This accuracy level of about 0.2% is only available from expensive bench-type LCR-meters that require significant efforts in setting-up measurements."

Some of the features found on Smart Tweezers include:
-Fully automatic Inductance, Resistance and Capacitance measurements as well as Equivalent Series Resistance (ESR)
-Basic accuracy of 0.2%
-Diode and Continuity test
-Adjustable test signal
-Component sorting with 1%, 5%, 10%, and 20% tolerance
-Semi-automatic offset subtraction
-Ideal for small components, as small as 0201 size (0.3 mm)
-Displays active and reactive impedance components
-Just 2 oz. weight and ergonomic design
-Li-Ion battery with USB charger; long battery life

Last year, the ST5L was released; a lower priced model of Smart Tweezers. Recently, the LCR-Reader was released, offering users a device that is nearly half the weight as well as price of previous models. This new device features a basic accuracy of 1%, exceeding the previous Smart Tweezers ST-1, ST-2 and ST-3 model specifications. With a one-button navigation, the device can be powered on and modes such as Automatic, Inductance, Resistance, Capacitance, and ESR can be selected. LCR-Reader measures the component with a test signal amplitude of 0.5 Volts, and the test frequency is adjusted for the type of component and value. Like Smart Tweezers, LCR-Reader measures the main impedance component, as well as parasitic components such as R for L and C, and is powered by a Li-Ion battery with micro-USB connection.
