'Six Dance Lessons in Six Weeks' Foreign Distribution Rights Obtained by Umedia International

LOS ANGELES, Feb. 13, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — Umedia International, the recently formed film distribution arm of the Umedia Group, has acquired international distribution rights to "Six Dance Lessons In Six Weeks," the movie adaptation of Richard Alfieri's international hit play, which stars two-time Oscar nominee Gena Rowlands, Cheyenne Jackson and Jacki Weaver, who is also a two-time Oscar nominee. The sale was announced by Andras Somkuti, Managing Director of Budapest-based Docler Entertainment which produced the feature in association with LA-based Entpro, Inc. US distribution is yet to be confirmed.

The film also features Oscar winner Rita Moreno, Julian Sands, Kathleen Rose Perkins (star of Showtimes' "Episodes"), Anthony Zerbe and Simon Miller. Arthur Allan Seidelman, who directed legit productions of the play on Broadway, at the Geffen Playhouse in Los Angeles and on London's West End, directed the movie version. Alfieri adapted the screenplay and Oscar winner Vilmos Zsigmond is Director of Cinematography.

Credits also include producers Gyorgy Gattyan, Andras Somkuti and Thomas H. Brodek. Executive producers are Jerry Offsay, Marc Platt and Bruno Gyorgy. Associate producer is Simon Miller. The film was shot in Budapest and on location in Florida.

SIX DANCE LESSONS IN SIX WEEKS is the story of the wife of a Baptist minister (Gena Rowlands), who hires an acerbic dance instructor (Cheyenne Jackson) so she can learn dancing in her home – and both end up learning more than they bargained for.

The play on which the film is based has been produced in theaters throughout the U.S. and in 25 countries internationally.

The team behind the production has enjoyed success in movies, TV and the stage. Umedia International is a film sales and financing company headed by Peter Rogers with offices in London, Brussels and Los Angeles. The company handles films produced by third-party film-makers, as well as films produced or coproduced by Umedia. Rogers has over 20 years of experience in the world of filmmaking having supervised the international releases of "Million Dollar Baby," "Runaway Bride," the "Underworld" series and "What's Eating Gilbert Grape." Among the company's current and recent releases are "Grace of Monaco," Oscar winner "The Artist," "The Best Offer" and "The Fifth Estate."

Director Arthur Seidelman is a five time Emmy nominee and has won two Emmys; writer Richard Alfieri is a screenwriter and playwright and a two-time Writers Guild of America Award winner; executive producer Jerry Offsay has served as president of programming for Showtime Networks, executive vice president of ABC Productions and president of RKO Pictures. His production credits include such classic films as "Eight Men Out" and "Diabolique"; executive producer Marc Platt is responsible for the highly successful "Legally Blonde" films, the TV miniseries "Empire Falls," the Broadway hit musical "Wicked" and the Broadway revival of "Pal Joey." He was also president of Universal and Sony Pictures.
