Slim's New Release of iPhone and Web App Helps Eliminate Social Media Clutter

Slim 2.0 Discovers and Delivers Social Media Information that's Important to You

SAN FRANCISCO, July 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Slim Labs, a San Francisco-based start up, today announced availability of Slim 2.0, the latest version of the popular web and iPhone app that filters through social media to discover the most important updates and deliver them in an easy format.

Slim Version 2.0 incorporates Twitter, Facebook, and LinkedIn and Instagram integration along with improved customization and efficiency features. Users connect to their social media accounts, and Slim discovers the major milestones within their social networks, sending updates through push notifications, and daily or weekly emails.

Slim Version 2.0 also introduces "Slim Alerts," a new feature that allows users to create personalized alerts based on any keyword, using an intuitive method of filtering through social networks. This helps users pre-determine the most important opportunities and reasons to respond to friends and clients. For example, real estate agents can receive updates about their friends talking about moving; car salesman will know when someone is looking to upgrade his car, etc.

The new version also enables users to customize their newsfeed by selecting the up or down arrows to determine the volume of updates from their contacts. The app is intuitive and learns from the user preferences over time to become more relevant the more it is used.  Slim Version 2.0 also enables all-in-one posting, so users can efficiently post updates to all of their social networks at once.

Slim Labs co-founder and CEO Yair Levin noticed active social media users were reaching a "burnout" stage from trying to keep track of all the activity on social networks whether their primary use was for business or pleasure. A recent Pew study reported that two-thirds of Facebook users needed to take a multi-week break because they were dissatisfied with the type of content (or updates) they received.

"Users need a way to aggregate and filter all of the information they are receiving on their various social media feeds. Slim is simplified, no-nonsense content – we like to call it 'fat-free social media' – so our users never miss out, saving time and avoiding dissatisfaction," said Levin.

Research shows that 800 million people check Facebook less than once a day; 360 million check Twitter less than once a day; 60 million check LinkedIn less than once a month. Thus, Slim is the perfect tool for everyone from active social media users who need a "safety net" to ensure they don't miss an important update from one of their networks, to the infrequent user who just wants the highlights from social media. Finally, the business user who has little time but wants to stay aware of opportunities and reasons to get in touch with friends and clients will also find Slim to be invaluable.

Slim maintains a secure computing environment to make it safe for both business and family use. Users can link and un-link networks at any time, from any device, and all data will be promptly and permanently removed.  Slim's strict internal policies and controls ensure the highest level of security possible.

About Slim Labs, Inc.

Slim Labs was founded in San Francisco in 2013 by Yair Levin and Zeev Vax. Originally from Israel, Levin and Vax wanted to keep in touch with friends and family back home but were frustrated with the burden of combing through social media to find the important updates.  In the Bay Area, they joined up with fellow middle easterners Hamza Essaoui and Yassine Haddioui, two app developers who also shared the vision of creating a social productivity tool to solve this problem.
