AKRON, Ohio, Dec. 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Smithers Quality Assessments (SQA), a Smithers Group company, specializing in quality, safety and environmental management systems certifications, announced today that it has been accredited by the ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board (ANAB) to perform audits and grant certifications of management systems for the pharmaceutical industry, International Accreditation Forum (IAF) 13.

Earlier this year, Smithers Quality Assessments was approached by Manhattan Isotope Technology, a wholly owned subsidiary of Positron Corporation, about certifying their quality management systems to the ISO 9001:2008. The initial audit was completed in September of this year and certification was issued to Manhattan Isotope Technology in early October. The ANSI-ASQ National Accreditation Board witnessed the audit and has accredited SQA to certify IAF 13 companies following the standard review process.
With SQA's newly expanded scope of services, pharmaceuticals (IAF 13) companies can now work with Smithers Quality Assessments when seeking certification to the following ISO standards:
