SOAPware Plans to Ease Clients into Meaningful Use 2014

Newest efforts designed to allow for smooth transition while providing ample training time

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark., Feb. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — SOAPware is pleased to announce the release of our new and improved SOAPware that includes several significant improvements, including a brand new Order Manager, as well as continued progress towards 2014 Meaningful Use.  These features have been carefully crafted to deliver clinically valuable features with maximum ease of use that also meet MU 2014 requirements. The remainder of features will be gradually added in future updates to continue to allow for a smooth transition and ample training time of MU 2014.

Top Features of the new and improved SOAPware Release:

  • Order Manager

How This Helps You

Order Manager has been completely re-designed, based on user feedback, and now includes the following features to help users streamline order workflows:

    • Re-designed Active orders section that allows for a streamlined workflow for faxing, printing and submitting orders.
    • New Results Pending section that allows the clinic to track pending orders and to relate test results to the original order.
    • New Order History tab that contains a complete history of orders placed within the patient's Order Manager.
    • New All Pending Orders report that compiles a list of the clinic's pending orders for all patients.

How This Helps MU Requirements

Order Manager will be used by Stage 2 eligible professionals to meet the Meaningful Use measures for:

    • CPOE for Laboratory and Radiology Orders
    • Summary of Care

 

  • Vital Signs

How This Helps You

Users are now able to designate a specific patient chart to use the English or Metric system instead of the system default unit system.  This will allow a clinic to designate the use of the Metric system for pediatric patients to record vitals while still continuing the English system for adult patients.

How This Helps MU Requirements

This feature was added to meet the Meaningful Use ONC 2014 Edition Test Script 170.314(a)(4) Vital Signs, Body Mass Index, and Growth Charts, that requires the EHR to allow for selecting and displaying the desired unit system for an individual patient.

 

  • Demographic Multi-Select Race

How This Helps You

Users will now be able to select multiple races per patient to more accurately represent patient demographics.

How This Helps MU Requirements

This feature was added to help eligible professionals meet the core Measure 3: Record Demographics. This feature also helps meet the Meaningful Use ONC 2014 Edition Test Script 170.314(a)(3) Demographics Ambulatory and Inpatient Setting that requires the EHR to, "identify the EHR function(s) that are available to record more than one race for a patient."

 

  • Registry Submission Improvements

In order to connect with registries and transfer data electronically, continued progress was made by adding several features to improve the submission process to immunization and syndromic surveillance registries. These features include:

    • Ability to record a patient's maiden name
    • Ability to indicate a patient's next of kin
    • Ability to record detailed data for immunization such as the status, route, vaccinator and more
    • Ability to create and manage the clinic's registries
    • Ability to record patient-specific registry information such as vaccine reminder method, registry consent, and more
    • Ability to record patient class when submitting syndromic surveillance data
    • Expanded HL7 to include additional data upon registry submission

These features were added to help eligible professionals meet the Core Measure 16: Immunization Registries Data Submission and the Menu Set Measure 1: Syndromic Surveillance Data Submission. These features also will help meet the Meaningful Use ONC 2014 Edition Test Scripts for 170.314(f)(1) Immunization information & 170.314(f)(2) Transmission to immunization registries.
