"Innovative Program" award celebrates and confirms the credibility of SOAR's proven solution
DETROIT, Nov. 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — When Susan Kruger was in third grade, she was fortunate enough to have a teacher pull her aside and give her some simple tips for getting more organized with her homework. This would have been a nice gesture for any student, but being a young girl who struggled with learning disabilities, it truly was a gift. Through this life-changing help, Kruger came to realize that despite her challenges with learning, she could achieve her scholastic goals and become the person she truly wanted to be: an educator.
Today, Kruger is not only an educator but also one of the country's most sought-after learning experts for traditional and ADHD learners alike. As an author, consultant, and founder of SOAR Study Skills, which provides books, kits and multimedia tools for improving study skills and overcoming learning-disability challenges, Kruger has just had the honor of being featured in the "Innovative Program" session at the prestigious 2013 Annual International Conference on ADHD.

The international conference, which took place November 7-9 in Washington D.C., was, in part, dedicated to spotlighting SOAR Study Skills and other leading programs that are focused on enriching the lives of those with ADHD. According to the conference website, this event is the "major research, practice and public information conference dedicated to ADHD." As such, it unites researchers, clinicians, educators, adults, parents, and others for the purpose of creating an opportunity for information exchange, disseminating relevant research, and raising public awareness of the disorder and its impact.
Kruger presented at the Innovative Program Pavilion — the venue provided for seeing new research in ADHD, participating in interactive discussions, and viewing displays on programs that offer promising practices for individuals with ADHD. Specifically, an afternoon Innovative Program session allowed Kruger the opportunity to relate her personal experience with learning challenges, elaborate on SOAR's goals, communicate the impacts of the program, and disclose data and research related to its proven success.
"It's critical for SOAR to remain visible and accessible to those who are working toward real, not gimmicky solutions in the field of education," Kruger says.
