AHRMM has driven the CQO Movement to revamp supply chain strategy by broadening its focus beyond cost, to include the correlation with quality and outcomes. One of the most impactful ways that AHRMM collaborates with vendors such as Swisslog is through the development of case studies and best practices, as seen in their web Knowledge Center.

"To truly impact cost, quality and outcomes, we believe the focus has to be bigger than just surgical supplies, just standardization, just procurement," explains Stephan Sonderegger, CEO of Swisslog Healthcare Solutions. "With solutions that reach across the entire healthcare supply chain, we aim to be a conduit for collaboration both inside and outside hospital walls."

In addition to sponsorship of the CQO Movement, Swisslog will sponsor the second annual Supply Chain Consolidation Forum on April 21st, hosted by the Journal of Healthcare Contracting.

Event attendees will hear from a diverse group of hospital supply chain experts about the challenges and issues encountered when justifying, planning, implementing and running a consolidated service center.

Topics include:

  • Achieving the Triple Aim through Consolidation – Brent Petty, 2015 AHRMM Chairman
  • Why a Consolidated Service Center? Case Study Overview and Lessons Learned – Greg Firestone, VP of Provider Solutions, ROi
  • Enhancing Distribution through Technology – Derek Sorensen, Senior Consultant at Forte Industries
  • Contracting for a Consolidated Service Center: Turning Suppliers into Partners – Phyllis McCready, VP & Chief Procurement Officer, Northwell Health
  • Developing a Clinically Integrated Supply Chain – Tony W. Johnson, Chief Operating Officer, Novant Health Shared Services
  • Automated Warehouse Tour at Medline Industries

Hospital and supply chain executives interested in attending this event can register at the Journal of Healthcare Contracting's website, http://www.jhconline.com/events.

Swisslog, historically known for its dominance in the hospital pneumatic tube system market, has over 2,300 clients in the United States. However, the company's portfolio extends across the healthcare supply chain, including enterprise software, medication management and warehouse automation.

Swisslog warehouse automation is installed at several of healthcare's largest suppliers, including Medline Industries' distribution center in Libertyville, Illinois. Medline deployed AutoStore® to automate the loading, storage and picking of medical supplies. This showcase system has been featured in several media outlets, including Modern Materials Handling and Modern Healthcare.
