Teacher Kicks Off New Interactive Global Music Program for Small Children with 24-hour Marathon Webcast

The 24 straight multicultural music classes will take families around the clock and "All Around This World"

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ — Starting at 9 a.m. on December 7, 2013, and running for twenty-four continuous hours until 8:59 a.m. on December 8, 2013, Jay Sand, founder of All Around This World, an interactive global music program for small children (infants to 8 years old) and their families, will single-handedly teach a "marathon" series of 24 straight multicultural music classes, web-streamed live, marking the project's international debut.

Over the course of the 24 distinct classes, each of which will start at the top of an hour and last approximately 45 minutes, Sand will introduce children and their families to songs from every inhabited continent, providing a uniquely accessible introduction to "world music." Sand will provide lyrics and introduce simple dance steps so families viewing the webcast will eagerly interact.

Sand started teaching global music to his neighbors' children in 2009 and has since developed a vibrant curriculum that consists of nearly 300 songs originating from over 100 countries. Sand adapts each song so children and their families can sing along.

"People find so many ways to hide from one another," says Sand, who traveled the globe with his guitar extensively before "settling down" with his wife and three young daughters and translating his love of musical travel into experiential classes for kids, "but when we're singing we instinctively connect." This fall All Around This World has been able to start making its curriculum available globally through a new website (http://www.allaroundthisworld.com), a set of family-friendly world-music CDs ), a series of illustrated 'musical maps' (http://www.allaroundthisworld.com/MusicalMaps) and a crowdfunding campaign (http://www.allaroundthisworld.com/crowdfunding) to enable the curriculum to reach children worldwide.

The event will take place at Sand's Philadelphia classroom and will be open for live attendance, but will also be globally accessible by live web-stream (stream details available on the All Around This World site on the day of the event). The hourly schedule is available on the All Around This World website at http://www.AllAroundThisWorld.com/JayWillBeTiredButWillKeepSinging. Sand is promoting his 24-hour event globally via social media and has already received press inquiries from South America, Europe and Asia. He's particularly looking forward to singing with children in Jakarta at 3am—a time when he hopes his own kids will be fast asleep.
