'The Sins of Tarrant County': Acclaimed Judge Uses Judicial Knowledge in Compelling Suspense Novel

FORT WORTH, Texas, June 11, 2009 — There is a time-honored maxim in fiction writing: write what you know. That holding true, there can be no better crime writer than a retired judge. "The Sins of Tarrant County" (published by Morgan James), by the Hon. Sandy Prindle, tells the enthralling story of Judge Ray Sterrett and the events and people who conspire to end his career, and his life.

"The Sins of Tarrant County" follows events that revolve around pillar-of-the-judicial-system Ray Sterrett. The story begins with Judge Sterrett taking action on what should have been a fairly straightforward peace bond case. Instead, it becomes the catalyst for a string of events that will result in the death of many innocent people and put Judge Sterrett and his children in mortal danger.

Billy Earl Stewart, the young defendant, is jailed following the peace bond trial. After getting a jailhouse education, he is released by a corrupt district judge. Stewart seeks vengeance upon Judge Sterrett. Stewart's well-planned quest for revenge ends in the deaths of three people, including Stewart's ex-girlfriend. He does not, however, manage to kill his intended target: Ray Sterrett.

As word about the courthouse massacre spreads, it draws the attention of two separate groups of political conspirators. Both of these groups independently decide to assassinate Sterrett and blame Stewart for his murder. These two murder conspiracies become the vehicle that drives the plot of "The Sins of Tarrant County" to its surprising and dramatic conclusion. The author expertly weaves together political intrigue, romance and a dramatic conclusion that will leave readers in suspense to the last moment.

The Hon. Sandy Prindle has led a life that could itself be the topic of a novel. Judge Prindle is one of the most lauded Justices of the Peace in the history of the state of Texas. The Justices of Peace and Constables Association has honored Prindle with its three highest awards: the T. A. Vines award (2004), Judge of the Year (2000), and the Lifetime Achievement Award (2006). In addition, he was President, Judge Advocate, three-time Legislative Chairman, and faculty member in their training academy. He and his wife Linda reside in Fort Worth, Texas. Prindle retired from 24 years on the bench and now focuses on writing. Two more novels are in progress. If his legal career is an indication of his talent, readers are in for a real treat.
