MILFORD, Conn., Feb. 23, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Thinklogical, a global manufacturer of secure, high performance KVM (keyboard, video and mouse) extension and switching systems for visual computing applications, today announced that U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Unified Capabilities (UC) Approved Product List (APL) approval of the Thinklogical Velocity Closed Video Matrix Switching Solution Rel. 4 TN 1324203 as a Video Distribution System (VDS) has been granted.

The UC APL provides a consolidated list of products that are approved for purchase by the U.S. Department of Defense. In order to be placed on the UC APL, products must be evaluated and achieve certification for information assurance (IA) and interoperability (IO) by the Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) by meeting the critical requirements of the Unified Capabilities Requirements (UCR) 2013. Cybersecurity testing was completed by the U.S. Navy Space and Naval War System Command (SPAWAR)-led IA test teams. The Thinklogical solution achieved Interoperability (IO) certification from the JITC on Feb. 2, 2015.

The Joint IO Certification Memorandum is available at: http://jitc.fhu.disa.mil/tssi/cert_pdfs/ThinklogicalVelocityRev4TN1324203Jan15.pdf

With this certification, Thinklogical Velocity products become the first system with both KVM and video matrix switching capabilities to be placed on the UC APL under the Video Distribution System (VDS) category. Velocity products have previously been accredited to Common Criteria EAL4, TEMPEST SDIP 27 Level B, and NATO NIAPC Evaluation Scheme: GREEN.

"Achieving Unified Capabilities Approved Product List Certification is another significant milestone for Thinklogical and adds to our unparalleled portfolio of information assurance accreditations," said Joe Pajer, president and CEO of Thinklogical. "No other KVM manufacturer has invested the time and resources to ensure their products meet demanding IA requirements as has Thinklogical. Being listed on the APL will make it easier for DoD IA and IT professionals to specify, purchase and install Thinklogical Velocity KVM products with confidence, and ensure the highest performance and data security in classified, video-rich application environments."

Pajer added, "Thinklogical is proud to support our nation's defense, intelligence and security communities with secure, reliable, and flexible signal management solutions that help these organizations maintain maximum mission readiness."

Supporting all common computer, audio visual and IT formats, Thinklogical Velocity extenders and matrix switches are a large-scale, layer 1, multi-domain, fiber-based KVM solution which separates computer assets from users and maintains isolation between domains. The Velocity KVM system enables the computers to be removed from the operations floor, improving the work environment, enhancing operational flexibility, and reducing the possibility of intentional or accidental data breach by eliminating physical access to the computer.

Thinklogical is unique in enabling multi-domain isolation, restricted switching and partitioning of video and data through a single matrix switch, making it the ideal KVM and video extension and switching solution for secure C4ISR, command and control, UAS/RPA operations, simulation, visualization and training applications.

DISA has compiled a list of approved similar products including all of the associated Thinklogical fiber matrix switch frame sizes from the MX48 to the VX640, and will be adding additional products as the DISA process dictates. Thinklogical is working with DISA (NIAP) to develop future Protection Profiles to further define the IA and operational advantages of large scale, fiber-based KVM solutions for the DoD and intelligence communities.
