Cano Cristales
Cano Cristales is a biological wonder. During the wet season, the aquatic plants and corals transform the river in a living rainbow. Located in the South East of Colombia, you need to fly to La Macarena where you will take a short boat trip to get to the Cano. Flights are available from Villavicencio (1h30) or Bogota (2h30). This is an easy trip with no particular physical condition needed.
El Cocuy National Park
El Cocuy National Park is an untouched mountaineering paradise combining glaciers, altitude lakes and waterfalls surrounded by 14 snow peaks standing at more than 5000m. Because of its location close to the Equator, it offers endemic flora and stunning contrasts as you move up and down in altitude. El Cocuy is located in the department of Boyaca, it is a 12h bus journey from Bogota. With an average altitude of 4000m, trekking in El Cocuy is demanding – some parts are only accessible to experienced mountaineers.
Los Cerros de Mavecure
Los Cerros de Mavecure are giant monoliths uprising from the Amazonian jungle. When it rains, the water creates rivers and waterfalls, giving the impression that the rocks are crying. During the dry season, rivers nearby make way to white sandy beaches to relax between treks. The Cerros are located in the east of Colombia next to Venezuela. It is a 1h30 minutes flight from Bogota to Puerto Inirida and then a 2 hour boat ride. It's relatively easy trek, although it could be tricky to climb some of the rocks.
