Travel and Social Networking App Skycheckin Courts Investors, Partners as Part of New Monetization and Growth Strategy

NEW YORK, June 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ — Skycheckin (http://www.skycheckin.com), the app that expands social and business networks into the stratosphere, is rolling out a new monetization program to bankroll its future development and database growth. The program will connect users with affiliates in the travel industry – hotels, airlines, rental car agencies, etc. – that will offer discounts on a variety of services. Skycheckin is free at the App Store and Google Play.

"We have spent the last year building a strong, multi-layered network of affiliates in every sector of the travel industry," explained Skycheckin development partner Charly Wa. "Our goal is to create a bridge between our users and these service providers, so that travelers can not only make meaningful new connections but also save money during their business trip or vacation."

Skycheckin will collect a commission on sales of these affiliated services, re-investing 100% of those funds in advertising. The company behind the app is pushing hard to strengthen the business model, and enlarging the partner network is a number one priority of that effort. Skycheckin has also created a "miles" system to reward frequent flyers with additional privileged offers from its affiliate network.

Development partner David Abitbol believes that Skycheckin is on the cusp of becoming a household name in intermediary travel apps. "Since launching more than a year ago, we've steadily built a loyal user base and are continually attracting new affiliates to the network. We're also currently in talks with potential investors regarding how to catapult the app to new heights. With the ongoing expansion of our partner network, Skycheckin is already becoming more than a social network for travelers. The app can now help travelers find great deals, too."

Like the best social networks, Skycheckin is an intuitive experience. After downloading the app, users log in and browse for their flight by airline, flight number or by Route. Users then virtually "check-in" to their flights to see who's already on board as well as receive notifications whenever a new user checks in. Skycheckin stores users' travel history and stats in the SkyStats tool.

Checking in to flights opens up a variety of options. Users can initiate conversations via direct messaging or suggest a face-to-face meetup. Whether for business or casual purposes, Skycheckin acts as the link between fellow travelers, a catalyst for human connection during an otherwise all-too-solitary experience.

Skycheckin works both in the airport and in flight; the end of Internet prohibition on the nation's airlines has created a vast opportunity for social networking, an opportunity that the app's development team has been quick to seize upon. To date, the app has earned a loyal following of more than 10,000 active users.

"Flying has always been a little – or a lot – tedious, even in the best of times," added Wa. "Now, Skycheckin creates possibilities for human connection during air travel that weren't there before. Making new friends, sparking romance or finding a potential new business associate are all on the table."
