The CFA Institute Research Challenge is an annual global competition providing university students with real-world exposure to the role of a research analyst. Introduced in 2006, it is considered to be the "Investment Olympics," testing students on their ability to value a stock and present their own recommendations. Students gain real-world experience as they assume the role of a research analyst and are tested on their ability to value a stock, write an initiation-of-coverage report, and present their recommendations.

Ivan Sichkar, CFA and Benjamin Lyng, CFA, were primary coordinators of the Local Challenge.  Says Sichkar, "The Research Challenge is an invaluable opportunity for the future generation of analysts to learn from industry experts."

Sponsors for the Local Challenge included Kaplan Schweser and FactSet.

Participating companies in the CFA Institute Research Challenge Colorado Region include: Molson Coors Brewing Company (2014), Ball Corporation (2013), Newmont Mining (2012), Western Union (2011), and Chipotle (2010).
