Visa and CBS Outdoor Turn to Virtual Images to Help Bring the 'Action' of the Winter Olympic Games to NYC's Grand Central Station Using 3-D

REDLANDS, Calif., Feb. 23, 2010 — The Winter Olympics is one of the biggest sporting events of the year and Visa is one of the biggest sponsors. Visa wanted to make sure that not all of the action took place in Vancouver – they wanted to bring the Olympic story to the world's leading financial center, New York City. CBS Outdoor knew just who to turn to – they partnered with Virtual Images – The 3D Company to help Visa bring the Winter Olympics to Grand Central Station using the power of 3-D.

Imagine you emerge from Grand Central Station, the largest and busiest train station in the world. You're one of more than 3 million commuters making their way through the station's subway corridor every month. As you enter the corridor, you are fully immersed in Olympic "action" surrounded by 16 impressive 4-by-8 foot 3-D panels tied to Visa's "Go World" campaign promoting the Winter Olympic Games. The 3-D experience also includes a 14-foot projection screen revealing 3-D Olympic footage.

Visa recently unveiled the first-of-its-kind media campaign which features Olympic athletes in action. The 3-D panels, produced by Virtual Images, appear throughout the high-traffic shuttle passageway and create a remarkable and memorable 3-D visual experience.

"This is a great example of a brand marketer using 3-D in a well-rounded way that stops consumers and causes them to interact with the brand's message," said Dave Corey, president and 3-D technology director of Virtual Images.  "With the incredible interest in 3-D, Visa is likely the first of many brands who will use a multi-faceted 3-D campaign, such as this one, to get noticed by consumers."

Visa's "Go World" high-definition 3-D commercials and traffic-stopping 3-D displays create a one-of-a-kind brand experience and have earned impressive media coverage. The comprehensive 3-D media campaign runs through February and is proving to be a huge success – demonstrating that 3-D marketing captures and engages viewers in a way that traditional advertising does not.
