The virtual map at "Galapagosislands.travel/maps" provides a didactic tool regarding the geography and brief information about each and every island of the Galapagos archipelago, which is located about 973km off the west coast of South America and Ecuador.

The interactive map was created as a travel planning tool & will help the web site visitor to get a better perspective about the alternatives and activities available on their next trip to the Galapagos Islands.
The map opens with an image of the islands where you can appreciate the geographical distribution of the archipelago, and by rolling the computer´s mouse button up or down, you are able to adjust the size of the map through a bigger or smaller zoom, according to your visual needs.
On the map, you would find four main icons allocated in the upper left hand side of the map´s frame screen and are spread in a row. These icons are classified in different colors: green, blue, purple and red, along with ranges of topics such as "islands," "towns," "visitor sites," and "fauna."
For example if a travel planner would be interested in specific information on visitor sites for an upcoming trip, he could start by Clicking on the icon "Visitor Sites," which is characterized by the purple color, the map displays the exact location of all visitor sites on each Island. The purple icon would allow the user to recognize the full name of each and every visitor site, along with other options that would show up after clicking on the location of their preference.
Among the subsequent options available, after clicking on the target place, there are pictures about the visitor site's environment and attractions, and on the upper left hand side of the graphic, three additional links: "directions," "about," "comments" that are related to the visitor site chosen and give details about that particular place.
The link "about" gives details about the visitor site and what can be seen there. The link "comments" allows the user to write and share about the learning experience lived by the tourist during or after the visit to the island. The link "directions" would send you straight forward to the booking section regarding how to arrange your trip to the archipelago according to your budget and time.
It's important to mention that the user would continue along the stages with the same standardized procedures that would be displayed on the other three icons remaining on the map (towns, fauna and Islands). However, each icon would contain different context of information according to the topics selected by the user.
