Wavien, Inc. Demonstrates a One Million Candle Power LED Flashlight at InfoComm

VALENCIA, Calif., June 13, 2012 — Wavien, Inc. is demonstrating an LED flashlight producing output of one million candle power, utilizing Wavien's proprietary Recycling LED (RLT™) technology and the new Luminus SBT 70 round white LED from Luminus. This flashlight far surpasses the brightness of currently available LED flashlights using standard technologies, and is within the brightness range of arc lamp based flashlights and spotlights. This flashlight will be presented by Wavien at the InfoComm trade show at the Las Vegas Convention Center, June 13th – 15th, 2012, booth number N248.

"Wavien's RLT technology recycles high angle emissions from the LED into low angle emissions to be collected by the output lens system. This recycling mechanism increases the light output of the system at small angle, and thus increases the brightness of the system. The net result is a narrower beam with higher brightness at the target," stated Dr. Kenneth Li, President and CEO of Wavien, Inc., who is also the inventor of the recycling technology. Dr. Li added: "This unique design enables LED based products to have increased total brightness by over 80% for most LEDs and it is recently found that for high performance LEDs, the brightness increases by over 100%. This brightness improvement is provided by adding a simple low-cost reflector with an aperture to standard LED packages. The diameter of the opening, which determines the amount of recycling, and the total size of the reflector can be scaled to meet the user's needs. We continue to optimize the RLT system and are actively developing a variety of other applications, including gobo projectors, down lights, search lights and general lighting uses."

Wavien has made evaluation samples of RLT LEDs available for purchase at our InfoComm booth and through the Wavien Shop at www.wavien.com. Please contact Harry Farrar for further details.
