New Web Resource Available for Divorced Singles

SALT LAKE CITY, April 8, 2014 /PRNewswire/ — A Utah woman recently created a web resource for the millions of people who get divorced every year.

Jessica Wilson founded DivorcedSinglesNews.com after her marriage of 23 years ended and she struggled to find adequate online resources. She created the website to help divorced singles learn from their experiences and gain hope for healthy love relationships in the future.

"During this time of year, bridal shows pop up like tulips and there are countless websites to help couples plan weddings," Wilson said. "But when one goes through a divorce, there are few websites to help cope with the challenges and expenses of this huge life change."

Wilson said that those going through divorce incur thousands of dollars in costs that are often overlooked. She noted the recent documentary DivorceCorp, which highlights the financial burden levied on divorced individuals. In addition to court and lawyer costs, divorced people have to deal with selling and purchasing homes, renting storage units and hiring therapists. There are also costs associated with reentering the dating pool: gym memberships, personal trainers, online dating services, new clothes or even plastic surgery for some.

"DivorcedSinglesNews.com will impact others for good and improve the lives of many individuals," said Ann Marie Thompson, director of the Salt Lake Women's Chamber. "Jessica has built a foundation for a successful business with an inviting and useful website."

The site is split up into various categories, including co-parenting, re-marriage, intimacy, dating, legal and healing. Each page has professional content relevant to the category, such as paid contributions by journalists, blog posts and videos. There is also a free legal blog through which readers can have their questions answered. The website will also serve as a platform for divorced individuals who want to share their own stories.

The website will continue to receive funding through advertising in addition to sponsored email newsletters, directory listings, webinars and events. The Utah Micro Loan Fund (UMLF) provided the initial funding for DivorcedSinglesNews.com.

"UMLF was pleased to fund DivorcedSinglesNews.com. It is an innovative concept with strong market potential that makes it perfect for our program," said Mickey Grames, program manager of UMLF. "Additionally, Jessica was accepted into our GE Banking on Women program because of her experience and ability to represent and sell her concept."
