Collegiate Fashion Week (CFW) offers a business-oriented spin on the traditional fashion week to prepare students for successful careers. The program was designed to provide students with the tools, skills and knowledge desired and required to be "Suited for Success" in the 21st century business world. CFW challenges what students think of as "fashionable" and exposes them to core behaviors, habits and approaches to promote professional and personal growth.

Each day features fashion-themed workshops conducted by local and regional corporate, community and civic leaders, industry experts and UNCW alumni. The workshops are designed to help students prepare for the professional world.  Themes include:  "It's Fashionable to…Have A Well-Dressed Resume™" and "It's Fashionable to…Have A Tailor-Made Network™" among many more. The week concludes with a grand finale featuring the unveiling of YOUniversity Drive's Spring 2014 Campus & Career Collection™ and the introduction of the winners of the Extreme Career Makeover™ contest for UNCW students.

YOUniversity Drive is dedicated to helping high school and college students bridge the gap between academics and the real world of work.  Michelle R. Horton, YOUniversity Drive's founder, designed CFW based on her professional experience as a marketing executive and college professor, and feedback from faculty and administration at institutions across the country to give students basic workforce readiness knowledge.

"We are very excited to be launching Collegiate Fashion Week with UNC-Wilmington," said Michelle R. Horton, founder and CEO of University Drive. "North Carolina is home to one of the top public university systems in the country, and our institutions do a tremendous job providing students with the knowledge they need to enter the workforce. Our goal is to educate students outside of the classroom by exposing them to what employers are looking for and giving them the basic workforce readiness knowledge they will need to transition into corporate America."

"Our campus is excited about YOUniversity Drive's Collegiate Fashion Week event and the opportunity to teach our students how to brand themselves with a twist," said Dr. Ixchel Baker-Tate, Director, UNCW Office of Scholarships and Financial Aid. "At UNCW, we strive to prepare our students for their lives and careers after college, and CFW is a tremendous program to help us accomplish that."

"UNCW has been an outstanding partner as we launch this program, and is extremely supportive of or efforts," Horton continued. "Our goal is to continue to expand to schools across the state and beyond to assist students as they enter the next chapter in their lives. We look forward to a successful week."

CFW at UNC-Wilmington is sponsored by PNC Bank, Banana Republic, Jos. A. Bank, LOFT, Hilton Garden Inn, along with several other donors and partners.  The event is hosted by UNCW's Office of Scholarships & Financial Aid, Career Center, Student Activities, and Student Affairs.
